About
The Emerald Tutu is a research company focused on developing long-term solutions for ecological coastal flood resilience infrastructure. Our solution, an interconnected network of biomass-heavy floating mats, protects the coastline from incoming wave and storm surge energy and develops over time into new soft artificial marshland in nearshore coastal areas. Our products are very low-cost, simple solutions that are modular and deployable in the short term—and the network can be expanded, densified, or repaired over time. We have an “ecology first” philosophy: Our products do not use any dangerous chemicals, carbon-heavy materials like concrete and steel, and improve water quality (providing habitat of many organisms) rather than harm it.
