About Cindy J. Karlson
Cindy Karlson’s practice is in environmental and land use law, and includes compliance counseling, transactional work, administrative matters, and litigation. Prior to forming her own law firm, Ms. Karlson was an associate with the international law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP and Counsel at Day Pitney LLP (formerly Day Berry & Howard), practicing in the environmental practice groups.
Cindy counsels clients in permitting, enforcement, and transactional matters under federal, state and local environmental permitting, health and safety, hazardous waste, air and water pollution laws. She handles environmental issues for a variety of industries, lenders, commercial developers/property managers, and insurers relating to corporate and real estate transactions. Her work involves pre-transaction counseling and the structuring of deals, developing risk management strategies, negotiating contractual language concerning environmental risk and allocation of liability for known and unknown conditions; and environmental due diligence. Cindy assists clients in the negotiation and performance of environmental site assessments, audits, and technical consultant contracts for the investigation and remediation of contaminated properties. She also has experience with environmental litigation, Superfund matters/negotiations, and natural resource damage law.
